Fenrir
She is the leader of the Warden squad and always be by side of her empress, Lady Hel, as personal bodyguard. Her job is to discipline the reapers as well as the magistrate job. She earns the respect and adore by the reapers despite of her emotionless personality.
Fenrir is a perfect warrior in battle. No one can beat her in strength. She assists Hel while working and she train the new reapers how to fight. She is very strict and serious. Her manner is above formal to anyone. She can do all maid work too but she is really, really bad cook. She has slow response and often breaks things too.
Her silver hair and maid uniform is very stand out from the other reaper. She has unique aura around her. She adores Hel a lot and her loyalty is second to none. No one know her past except Loki who brought her here.
Her ability is the physical power of her body. She can easily pick up a huge rock with her single hand. Her weapon is always in her sleeve. They are the unbreakable chains, Gleipnir. These chains can be control as she wants and can be extended as far as she can see. With the incredible power and weapon she can bind any enemy or capture who she wants.
She has weakness on cute things and can be lost control. So she usually prohibits the cute things in her sight except in her own room. Her hobby is to do knitting as well as training fighting.
Hel
She is the empress of Nifleheim, the most fearsome and the most authorized. Despite her childish appearance she proved herself by being the excellent governess and being the clever strategist. She has her own secret agent. That is why she knows almost everything happen in Nifleheim. When she met Idun, she acted strange like she knew something. She care Idun a lot and welcome her as her royal guest.
Five years ago, Hel was bought to the castle by Loki. Nobody knows her past but it seems that she was in the rich family and she died in very young ages. She had incredible spirit power and had special talent. So Loki trained her to be the empress. Be adopt by Loki, she adore him as her father. Then she had Fenrir, the Warden squad Leader, as her personal bodyguard. And since then Fenrir is always by her side.
She is the heart of Nifleheim. She treats her man in good care. She provides them training to improve their skill to survive in the wars. She works and studies hard every day. And that why every reaper in Nifleheim adore her.
Hel has pride and over mature behaviors, self confident and don’t fear anything. Although she act like the lady she is quite short temper and very stubborn. She often gets angry with Bast.
She has many abilities but the unique one is her sonar. She can emit sonar wave and get information of all spirit around her. She can also read thought and use telepathy with the sound too. So nobody can trick her even Bast who can become invisible. Her weapon is “Twin Judge” the twin black pistol. When combine her weapon and ability, she never miss the target. Her weaknesses are her poor health and that her ability cost a lot of spirit power. And that is why Fenrir has to stay by her side.
Her hobby is to have a nice break, sipping Darjeeling tea, have some cake and cookie while reading books in the rose garden.
Bast
She is a cat-like reaper girl who is very self-center. She is also a member of black lightning squad and claim to be the Nero’s buddy. Bast is one of mystery girl. She always follows Nero and never listens to anyone but him. She is the only one Hel doesn’t mind her.
No one knows about her past. And she never told anyone. She is cheerful, brave and clever. Sometime she can be very cruel like little devil. This freedom lover girl does not care about others except Nero. She will help Nero without any hesitate. She can kill anyone if it means to save him.
After Bast met Idun she seems very interest in her. And since Nero got weaker she teased him a lot. She is friendly to anyone but Loki.
Her ability is to erase her own presence, vanish and appear when she wants. This stalker girl uses this power to follow Nero and to escape from any task she don’t want to do. No surprise she is specialist in assassination. Her weapon is Cat O’ nine blades, the nine knives. Normally she use only two of them each hand. But she can control all of nine knives to fly in the air as she wants.
Her Hobby is sleeping, follow other from behind, play prank to others and make fun of them. She can sleep at anywhere anytime. She like high place and love to eat fish.
Idun
She is a spirit who happens to be in Nifleheim by chance. She met Nero when she was attacked by evil spirit and saved by him. After that she knew that she had not died yet. So she wanted to find the way to go back to her real world. Many things happen and she is the key changing fate of this world.
She is kind, calm and very optimistic. Being naive and trusts others without doubt is one of the reason she is beloved. She is also clumsy and easy to be distracted by cute things. Quite airhead sometime.
Since young she had very poor health. She could not do heavy things and had to stay in the hospital. Her only hobby was writing the novel. In that way she is one who knows how a life is worth. Her dream is to help as many as she can to gain dreams and happiness.
After she came to Nifleheim, she can do many things that she had always long for. She can run around outside. She can cook and do housework she loves as long as she wants. But still she needs to return to her real world.
Her unique ability is to heal any spirit instantly. And she had strong spirit power although she was just come to Nifleheim. It is because of her strong faith in her way of life. Her weapon is a magical pen which can cast any magic circle in a blink of time. Unfortunately she is a very slow learner and can perform only few magic.
Her hobby is to writing novel, bake some dessert and do housework. Helping people is her hobby too. But since she is very clumsy the troubles always happen after that.
Nero - the protagonist character
He is a strong reaper in Nifleheim and the leader of Black lightning squad (Although there are only few members). He is one of the strictest about duty. His cold personality and merciless fighting style make other reapers fear and try to stay away from him. Indeed he was the one who isolate himself from the others.
In the past, Nero was once a great general who swore to protect his kingdom. Many people relied on him as the hero who never loses. But the things changed, when the powerful empire waged war with his kingdom. Though Nero was so powerful, he could not fight against thousands of enemy alone. His Kingdom fell. He could not protect their hometown. The trauma from that incident make him don’t want anyone to rely on him and stay away from people. But yet he is still has the habit of the soldier, to keep the duty.
One day he met a girl spirit named Idun. His life changed completely when he decided to help her. After that he lost all his spirit power and became weak. He had to collect spirits to recover his strength and find the way to bring Idun to life. But the real troubles are waiting for him.
His ability is almost invincible. He can move quickly and strike his claw at the enemy in a blink. He can release his spirit claw to cut widely area like air blade. His most powerful move is to focus entire body and mind then he can move so quickly like the time stop around him for the moment. But this trick sure cost him a lot of spirit power and he may not be able to fight for quite a while.
His hobby is pretty different from his look. It’s cooking. He has a lot of free time and has potential to gather rare ingredients in the Nifleheim. With ability and Cerby’s help, Nero is one of the famous chefs in his world.
Update about the setting of the game.
The Niflehiem, the land the despair. This world is one of the nether world that have only night. The inspiration is of course from Niflheimr, the hell in the Norse legend. Almost every part of the world cover in cold, dark place. It has Ice mountain which Eljudnir, the castle of grim reapers, lie there. It has many dark forests and ice plains. It have two moons, the light blue one and the yellow one.
This Nifleheim is the land of the spirit who have regret from their past life. Some of them fail to protect someone important to them. Someone fail to keep something. Only few of them come from other netherworlds. With all those despair, the land appear to be dark, cold and lonely.
I will update what and how we make the game. For today I will start with how we make this game.
The game engine we use for this game is Ren’Py, a very promising novel engine with flexible for coding.
With this engine we can make a simple visual novel game in no time.
But our game is not only read and select the choice game. So we have to code something more.
